Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar was born on 9 September 1967, in Amritsar, Punjab, India.His father was a government employee. He studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked as a chef. He won black belt in martial arts. He then came back to Mumbai, where he started teaching martial arts. One of his students recommended him to do modelling and a few modelling assignments later, Kumar was offered a role in the film Deedar(1992). He worked as a stunt man in many movies and done many dangerous stunts.

He has appeared in over 125 Hindi films. He is several times nominated for the Filmfare award. In 2008, the University of Windsor conferred him an Honorary Doctorate of Law in recognition of his contribution for Indian cinema. In 2014, Kumar launched TV realty show Dare 2 Dance. He is known for his feature films called as “Khiladi series”.

On 17 January 2001 he married to Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, after being engaged twice. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
